News - The last preparations for the regatta Sv. Duje
In its 14th edition International rowing regatta Sv. Duje will bring together the teams of Oxford and Cambridge University to compete again after the Boat Race on the Thames.
„Split is just wonderful and we are proud to have the opportunity to participate in such a strong and well known regatta. It challenges us to bring up our best preparation, but also puts a great connection between the organizers and the city with competitors. I will certainly come back here during this summer so I could get to know Split and Dalmatia” – said the competitor from the German rowing team of Aachen.
Besides the student delegation and their teams, the event will attract various guests from the social, sport, cultural and political life, while the regatta will certainly contribute in positioning the city of Split on the tourist map of Europe.
„I am not exaggerating when I’m pointing out the strength of this race, because it is one of the leading world university events in rowing. Beside the sport itself, we cannot ignore the promotion power of Split, Dalmatia and Croatia” – said Juraj Gamulin, the president of the Organizing committee.
The program of the regatta, as it was announced earlier, includes qualification races of universities at 9:00 h and the final race at 12:00 h on Saturday. The race of legends starts at 12:00 h at the Split’s Riva. The Saturday night is reserved for the traditional Lighthouse Disco – the biggest “old school” party under the open sky.
The draw for qualifications is out:

“Without Hamlet” is an award-winning play that explores what would happen to Hamlet if its protagonist took a day off. Whilst turning the world’s best-known tragedy into a comedy, the performers still pay hommage to the great work by citing its best quotes and putting the work into a modern-day context.
