Karate

The most successful martial arts sport in Zagreb

For many years, karate has yielded Croatian athletes who have won medals at big international competitions. The extensive network of clubs and professional staff attract young people, while the organisation of numerous competitions at a regional level is an additional step forward. Nowadays, 180 clubs with more than 10 000 competitors are registered in CKU. The most important events in Croatia are the CROATIA OPEN and GRAND PRIX CROATIA that attract around 1 400 participants from 15 countries.

Ninty-nine (99) Universities applied.

Team Tournaments:

  • one (1) Kumite men’s tournament,
  • one (1) Kumite women’s tournament
  • one (1) Kata men’s tournament,
  • one (1) Kata women’s tournament.

Individual Tournaments:

  • Kumite tournaments in categories:

Men: -60 kg, -67 kg, -75 kg, -84 kg, +84 kg

Women: -50 kg, -55 kg, -61 kg, -68 kg, +68 kg

  • one (1) Kata men’s tournament,
  • one (1) Kata women’s tournament.

The competition consists of three (3) days. The General Technical Meeting (GTM), where the presence of each Head of the Delegation is obligatory, will be held one day prior to the start of the competition in the afternoon hours.
