European Universities Games are the largest multi-sport competition in Europe, and a media platform that will mark a milestone for further development of Croatian university sports.

During the european Universities Games Zagreb – Rijeka 2015, between 1,500 and 2,000 volunteers will live a unique experience in this great cultural and multi-spors event. Volunteers will be the backbone of the organization.

News - Oxford University dominated in Split
The 14th edition of the International Rowing Regatta Sv. Duje ended with the superior victory of Oxford University. For the first time, they won gold medals in the men’s and women’s university eights race, as well in the race of legends. Oxford teams celebrated over a second-placed Cambridge while the third places went to Hamburg in women and the Zagreb in the men race.
“It is true that the Oxford won in all the races, but the biggest winner is the passion for rowing of city of Split, whose citizens create a brilliant atmosphere every year. I can only thank all of you and invite you at the 15th regatta Sv. Duje in following year”- said Luka Grubor, Olympic medal winner and one of the most successful competitors of Oxford.
Besides the Oxford and Cambridge University, the regatta hosted a numerous European university rowing crews such as Leiden, Aachen, Wroclaw, Budapest, Novi Sad as well as Croatian rowers and the host – University of Split.
“We are happy and honoured to participate in this prestigious event. Split is one of Europe’s and the world’s leaders of university rowing, and our visit is a confirmation that you are doing a good job…” – said the rowers from Leiden, who are proud of their long rowing tradition.
The regatta attracted various respectable guests, including the President of the European University Sports Association (EUSA), Mr Adam Roczek. Mr Roczek was welcomed at the City Council by the Mayor Mr Ivo Baldasar. With the Rector of University Mr. Simun Andelinovic and the Vice-rectors, Mr. Roczek visited the Campus of the University of Split, where the representatives of the University discussed on the development of the university sport in Split and Croatia. Mr Adam Roczek also attended the opening ceremony of the Regatta in Summerhouse gallery of a famous Croatian sculptor and architect Ivan Mestrovic. He also used the opportunity to make sightseeing of Split, a 1.800 years old town.

Zagreb-Rijeka, Croatia: July 12 – 25, 2016
The 3rd edition of the European Universities Games will be held in the Croatian cities Zagreb and Rijeka in July 2016. Sport featured are Badminton, Basketball, Basketball 3×3, Beach Volleyball, Bridge, Chess, Football, Futsal, Golf, Handball, Judo, Karate, Rowing, Rugby 7’s, Sport Climbing, Swimming, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Tennis, Volleyball and Water Polo. Two of the sports – Table Tennis and Swimming – will also include competitions for students with disabilities. Apart of the sports competitions, the Games will be accompanied by the Rector’s Conference, educational side-events, cultural program and other activities.
