European Universities Games are the largest multi-sport competition in Europe, and a media platform that will mark a milestone for further development of Croatian university sports.

During the european Universities Games Zagreb – Rijeka 2015, between 1,500 and 2,000 volunteers will live a unique experience in this great cultural and multi-spors event. Volunteers will be the backbone of the organization.

News - Hamster Hrki is an official mascot of EUG 2016
Zagreb, April 29th 2015. – European Universities Games Zagreb – Rijeka 2016 have their official mascot. After selecting visual identity in January, the organizers presented the name of the mascot.
The Minister of Science, Education and Sports, Vedran Mornar announced that the name of our hamster mascot is Hrki. Among 200 proposals of Croatian citizens, 11 of them entered the shortlist where more than 30 famous Croatian athletes voted for their favourites. European champion in gymnastics Mario Moznik and Olympic, World and European medals winner in Para swimming Mihovil Spanja were presented as the first ambassadors of EUG 2016.
Before the announcement of the official name of the mascot the representatives of the organizers of the European University Games Zagreb – Rijeka 2016 and the Ministry of Science, Education and Sports signed a cooperation agreement. Minister Mornar pointed out that the events such as the European Universities Games may bring many benefits. He highlighted the renovation and construction of new student dormitories, but also the promotion of the country that will attract more than 5.000 students from all over Europe.
As part of this ceremony, the organizers presented the official website of the Games (http://www.eug2016.com/) which offers plenty of entertainment and news content of the Games, host cities and other points of interest.

Zagreb-Rijeka, Croatia: July 12 – 25, 2016
The 3rd edition of the European Universities Games will be held in the Croatian cities Zagreb and Rijeka in July 2016. Sport featured are Badminton, Basketball, Basketball 3×3, Beach Volleyball, Bridge, Chess, Football, Futsal, Golf, Handball, Judo, Karate, Rowing, Rugby 7’s, Sport Climbing, Swimming, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Tennis, Volleyball and Water Polo. Two of the sports – Table Tennis and Swimming – will also include competitions for students with disabilities. Apart of the sports competitions, the Games will be accompanied by the Rector’s Conference, educational side-events, cultural program and other activities.
