European Universities Games are the largest multi-sport competition in Europe, and a media platform that will mark a milestone for further development of Croatian university sports.

During the european Universities Games Zagreb – Rijeka 2015, between 1,500 and 2,000 volunteers will live a unique experience in this great cultural and multi-spors event. Volunteers will be the backbone of the organization.

News - 14th edition of the rowing regatta „Sv. Duje“
For its 14th edition, the International rowing regatta „Sv. Duje“ will host one of the most popular sport traditions of the world – the race between the top eights of Oxford and Cambridge. After the race on the Thames one month ago, where Oxford rowers won, it will surely be exciting to watch them competing for victory again. On this year’s regatta the female teams of Oxford and Cambridge will compete in Split for the first time.
„More than 400 million people around the world follow the Oxford-Cambridge race on the Thames, and the Split is the only destination that offers the possibility of a rematch” – said Toni Gamulin, the director of Regatta „Sv. Duje“ at the press conference which was held in Ivan Mestrovic Gallery on May 4th.
At the same press conference, the Rector of the University of Split, Simun Andelinovic pointed out that his administration have recognized the effort in the field of university sport and its importance in the academic and social life. “University of Split has included sport in its strategic priorities and is powerfully headed in the direction of creating a system of university sport as one of the key brands of the University of Split“- said Rector.
Besides the University of Split and famous guests from England, the regatta will host a numerous universities crews from different European countries. First appearance of Leiden University from Netherlands will also bring the sport thrill to regatta, due to their long and famous rowing tradition. In addition to the International regatta, students from University of Split will compete for its faculties. A special edition of every year’s regatta is the legends race of Oxford, Cambridge and Split. Rowers who won a numerous number of European, World and Olympic medals will row on Split’s Riva on May 10th.
International rowing regatta „Sv. Duje“ which will gather a total of 31 rowing crews this year, is a part of UniSport which represents a common name for all student sports competitions in 22 sport in Croatia. This event is also a part of “WARM-up” for the biggest sport event in recent history of Croatia – the European Universities Games Zagreb – Rijeka 2016.

The 3rd edition of the European Universities Games will be held in the Croatian cities Zagreb and Rijeka in July 2016. Sport featured are Badminton, Basketball, Basketball 3×3, Beach Volleyball, Bridge, Chess, Football, Futsal, Golf, Handball, Judo, Karate, Rowing, Rugby 7’s, Sport Climbing, Swimming, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Tennis, Volleyball and Water Polo. Two of the sports – Table Tennis and Swimming – will also include competitions for students with disabilities. Apart of the sports competitions, the Games will be accompanied by the Rector’s Conference, educational side-events, cultural program and other activities.
