News - The innovative BodyRecog app: preview at EUG, launch at Rio Olympics

All participants of the European Universities Games Zagreb – Rijeka 2016 will be given a free three-month trial of the mobile application BodyRecog. The application has a module for estimating health risks based on body measurements, and uses the smartphone camera to assess the anthropometric status of its user.

This is the result of the declaration signed on May 5 at EUG 2016 headquarters in Zagreb by the president of the Games Zrinko Čustonja and the conceptual creator of BodyRecog and the director of LiveGood Anita Bušić, for the purpose of mutual promotion of the application and the Games in Zagreb and Rijeka.

„I am very pleased with this cooperation. This globally recognized product will give a whole new dimension to the European Universities Games. By merging these two large projects, we wish to emphasize the synergy of education, science, sports, health and technology,” said Zrinko Čustonja during the signing of the declaration.

With more than 10 awards from the world’s most prestigious fairs, the application was listed among the 50 most innovative sports-related apps, and was consequently given an opportunity to be a part of the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, where the very best athletes in the world, the participants of the Olympic Games, will be able to use it as well.

“We are honored and delighted to be working with the European Universities Games. As I had volunteered at the 1987 Universiade, I have fond memories of the joyful youth and the sporting spirit of its participants, and I remember the warmth and the enthusiasm of the volunteers and organizers as well. The atmosphere was fantastic back then and I’m convinced such an atmosphere will be brought back to Croatia during the EUG. I’m looking forward to that,” said Anita Bušić.

Developed, among others, by the scientific adviser Marjeta Mišigoj-Duraković from the Laboratory of Kinanthropometry of the Faculty of Kinesiology in Zagreb, BodyRecog is an application designed for anyone who takes care of his or her health, whether they practice sports on a recreational, amateur or professional level.

LiveGood stated the application will be gradually upgraded to encompass people of all ages. It is currently aimed at adults from 18 to 60 years old.

The signing was also attended by Gordan Kožulj, the chairman of the EUG 2016 Marketing Committee, and Luka Leško of the Sports Committee, who is the person connecting these two projects since he is a member of both teams.

This exclusive opportunity for EUG 2016 participants will further enrich their experience of Games.
