European Universities Games are the largest multi-sport competition in Europe, and a media platform that will mark a milestone for further development of Croatian university sports.

During the european Universities Games Zagreb – Rijeka 2015, between 1,500 and 2,000 volunteers will live a unique experience in this great cultural and multi-spors event. Volunteers will be the backbone of the organization.

News - Zagreb will be the centre of world university sport in next two days
Zagreb, March 27th 2015 – European umbrella organization of student sports (EUSA), in the cooperation with the Croatian academic sports federation (CASF), was organizing a conference on a subject „Advancing university sport” and gathered the most famous international names in the field of academic sports.
European University Sports Association Conference has begun its two-day program with an opening ceremony. Conference gathered representatives of national sports academic federations and university sports associations. Participant will get the possibility to acquire new innovations in student sports and key information about EUG 2016.
For the first time since the ‘1987 Universiade’, the city of Zagreb welcomed the President of the International University Sports Federation (FISU) Mr Claude-Louis Gallien. He officially opened the conference along with Mr Adam Roczek the President of the EUSA, Mr Zrinko Custonja the President of CASF and Mr Tomislav Paskvalin the Assistant of Minister of Science, Education and Sport.
After the formal opening of the Conference, international delegates were welcomed in Croatian Parliament by President of the Parliamentary Committee of Health and Social Policy, Mr Zeljko Jovanovic and the President of the Board of Education, Science and Culture, Mr Valter Boljuncic. They discussed about the role of Croatia in international university sport and the call of university sport in promotion of physical activities.
During the two-day program, the organizers will assemble four panels and two sets of workshops on six different subjects in order to learn more about the European Universities Games Zagreb – Rijeka 2016, creating a legacy of the Games, education through sport and academic sport activities in Europe.
Organizers of EUG 2016 got the commendation from participants of Conference for implemented activities and further plans in organizing the best and the largest Games so far.

Zagreb-Rijeka, Croatia: July 12 – 25, 2016
The 3rd edition of the European Universities Games will be held in the Croatian cities Zagreb and Rijeka in July 2016. Sport featured are Badminton, Basketball, Basketball 3×3, Beach Volleyball, Bridge, Chess, Football, Futsal, Golf, Handball, Judo, Karate, Rowing, Rugby 7’s, Sport Climbing, Swimming, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Tennis, Volleyball and Water Polo. Two of the sports – Table Tennis and Swimming – will also include competitions for students with disabilities. Apart of the sports competitions, the Games will be accompanied by the Rector’s Conference, educational side-events, cultural program and other activities.
