News - Zagi passes the torch to Hrki

Zagi has symbolically passed the torch to Hamster Hrki, the mascot of the European Universities Games Zagreb-Rijeka 2016. An exhibition of the memorabilia from the 1987 Universiade was opened today at the Zagreb City Council Hall. The exhibition servers as a reminder of the best moments of the 1987 Universiade right before the great Universities Games, which start in sixteen days.

The exhibition was opened by the Mayor of Zagreb Milan Bandić, who expressed his satisfaction with the fact that Zagreb and Rijeka are the host cities of the EUG, inviting the citizens to visit the Games, the largest multi-sport event in Croatia. Several renowned guests, including the representatives of the City of Zagreb and the EUG 2016 delegation attended the opening of the exhibition as well.

The president of the Games Zrinko Čustonja expressed his hopes that the European Universities Games will leave a positive mark on the city of Zagreb just like the 1987 Universiade did. Čustonja and the president of the Sports Committee Danira Bilić led the EUG 2016 delegation at the event.

The exhibition of the 1987 Universiade memorabilia, named “Zagi towards Hrki”, will be open until July 8th. Visitors can see it every working day at the Zagreb City Council Hall on Stjepan Radic Square 1 in Zagreb.
