This year’s European Universites Games Zagreb – Rijeka 2016 are all about sports!

In addition to competition venues, the Games offer additional sports facilities, such as the fitness center, swimming pool, and volleyball and football courts.

Preparing for the futsal tournament starting tomorrow, Monday, July 18, the Portuguese team from the University of Minho used the fitness center.

‘It is good for physical preparation. Besides, it’s very clean and the staff is very polite’, explains happily Portuguese Futsal player Ana Costa.

Even though it’s best to use the swimming pool and Lake Jarun on sunny days, they are very important for athletes who want to relax stressed muscles in their free time.

Besides the athletes, even the volunteers can benefit from the sport facilities.

‘We enjoy our break time by playing sports. We all meet at the football pitch after our workshifts to chill out together’, confired the Croatian volunteers Filip Sinković and Sven Sabolić, visibly satisfied.

Indeed, sport does not only mean physical effort, it’s also a gateway to sincere friendships.
