News - Rijeka passing by: “People from the background” ensure everything runs smoothly
Considering that the weather conditions in Rijeka are not so great, the days at the Campus are passing by pretty quietly, with the exception of yesterday, July 16, when the men’s and women’s water polo finals caused much excitement. Young people from all parts of Europe could be seen everywhere, enjoying what will surely be one of the most memorable periods in their lives; most of them spend their day training for the matches and competitions ahead.
However, people who ensure that everything goes according to plan and that everything is taken care off are often not in the foreground of the Games.
One of the many security personnel responsible for safety, Emanuel Fućak, points out:
‘I am pleased with the way we organized the security tasks and I think we did a good job, befitting a great event such as this one. The organization is incredible but the weather can spoil plans when it comes to fun’
In the period between meals, many have found refreshments on the outer terrace of the Akvarij café at the Campus, the workplace of the lovable duo Sava Kornjača and Oliver Šuljagić.
‘It is really great that the accommodations are close to the restaurant because it makes it easier for the students to organize their time. When it comes to work itself, I think we met everyone’s expectations and that everything is going according to plan so far, which is proof of the good organising skills of the people in charge’
Since the lifestyle of an athlete includes trainings and competitions, the people who make sure athletes come to their sports venues on time are the drivers of the bus shuttle lines, Tošo Jaković and Darko Faltis:
‘It is crucial that everyone is coordinated in order for this event to take place without problems. We are happy that on one has missed their bus so far’

“Without Hamlet” is an award-winning play that explores what would happen to Hamlet if its protagonist took a day off. Whilst turning the world’s best-known tragedy into a comedy, the performers still pay hommage to the great work by citing its best quotes and putting the work into a modern-day context.
