News - EUSA thanked Zagreb, the only city ever to host two biggest university sport competitions

On Thursday night at the Klovićevi Dvori Art Gallery, the Mayor of Zagreb Milan Bandić met with the heads of the European University Sports Association (EUSA) as part of the Evenings on Grič manifestation.

As a token of their gratitude Zrinko Čustonja, president of the Organizing Committee of the European Universities Games Zagreb – Rijeka 2016, and the Mayor of Zagreb bestowed on the representatives of the EUSA three medals- gold, silver and bronze.

The president of the EUSA Adam Roczek thanked the Croatian organizers and conferred an award to Mayor Bandić on the grounds that Zagreb is the only city in Europe that has hosted two big university sporting events, the 1987 Universiade and the European Universities Games Zagreb – Rijeka 2016.

After the official part of the evening was over, there was a cocktail party and the concert of the Zagreb Youth Orchestra named ‘Mozart in the Garden’. The musicians from the Zagreb Youth Orchestra, with the help of young costumed actors and singers, conjured the life of the musical genius Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in what as a musical and theatrical spectacle.
