EUG expresses condolences over Nice attack

The news of the terrorist attack in Nice has struck us as the organizers of the Games which have many French participants. In solidarity with all the victims and out of respect for our colleagues who are currently at the Games, all today’s matches will start with a minute of silence. Student sport is not burdened with hatred, discrimination and racism; it is instead focused on fair sports competition and cherishes the true values of sports and the Olympic Charter. The Organizing Committee of the European Universities Games strongly condemns this act of terrorism and expresses sincere condolences to the families of victims, to all French people and the representatives of the French universities at the Games.
