News - Women’s water polo: Nijmegen defeats Edinburgh

Students from Great Britain and the Netherlands clashed on the third day of the women’s water polo competition, and the team of the University of Raboud in Nijmegen put on a dominant performance, winning 10:5.

The team from Edinburgh played bravely in the first quarter, trying to surprise their opponents. They scored three, but conceded two goals. However, they struggled to keep that tempo as the game progressed, and the Dutch team managed to pull back from behind and completely turn the score – they had a comfortable lead of five goals at the beginning of the last quarter, making the last minutes of the games a formality.

Iris Wolves from the Raboud team was the MVP of the match, as she scored four goals. Emma Bird and Alison Thomson from the British team scored two goals each.

The women’s water polo competition continues tomorrow with a match between the host team from Rijeka and the Edinburgh team.
