News - What a day for Zagreb! The Brits best in the women’s competition

The golfers of the University of Zagreb had an almost ideal day, reaching the first place of the golf competition at the European Universities Games and leaving the Germans and the Irish behind. In the women’s competition, it’s clear that all three medals will go to the British Isles, although it’s unknown who will take which medal.

Ivan Vučemil played the game of a lifetime, helping the University of Zagreb to take first place. He managed to make a par at almost all holes, hitting a birdie on three. He had help from his colleague Maur Toni Krešić, who completed Zagreb’s phenomenal day.

The Germans, who are now second, didn’t have a bad day, but the Zagreb team were simply too good. The Irish lost their chances for winning the gold, and they could lose the silver as well since Stirling University is just a strike behind. There was plenty of excitement at the court, and today we’ll find out who will be the best.

The situation is much clearer in the women’s competition. After the third day, the girls from the British Isles have secured the top three spots. The only question is how will the final ranking look like; currently, Stirling holds the first place, St Andrews is second, while Exeter is third. However, it is most likely that Stirling and St Andrews will fight for the gold, as St Andrews are only two strikes behind. Lieve van Veggel was especially inspired, reducing Stirling’s advantage and ensuring that the final day of golf competitions will be filled with excitement.
