News - Croatian para table tennis players ready for the Games

The para table tennis competition at the European Universities Games Zagreb-Rijeka 2016 starts today and it will last until Sunday, July 23.

Croatian universities have ten representatives, who will be competing in all four categories at the Games. The only Croatian female representative Maja Šuman will compete both in the women’s table tennis tournament and in the men’s para table tennis tournament.

Six of the ten representatives come from the table tennis club for persons with disabilities Uriho, one of the largest and best clubs. Uriho players have won the Croatian national championship nine times in a row.

‘We’ve been preparing for the Games, we’re competing in most of the categories, and I hope we’ll walk away with six medals,’ said Jadranka Blagus, the coach of the Croatian representatives.

Coach Blagus is pleased with the organization and the conditions, expressing her gratitude to the coordinator for persons with disabilities at the European Universities Games Branimir Bagarić.
