European Universities Games are the largest multi-sport competition in Europe, and a media platform that will mark a milestone for further development of Croatian university sports.

During the european Universities Games Zagreb – Rijeka 2015, between 1,500 and 2,000 volunteers will live a unique experience in this great cultural and multi-spors event. Volunteers will be the backbone of the organization.

News - Winners of the the UNIverzI-JA-DA project
European Universities Games Zagreb – Rijeka 2016 and Croatian Agency for SMEs, Innovation and Investments (HAMAG-BICRO) announced the winners of the UNIverzI-JA-DA project on Tuesday, 19th January 2016.
First place in the category “Mobile application” was split between two teams – Infinium and Hrkify. In their own innovative way, these teams will provide connection and network between nearly six thousand students during the largest multi-sport event in the history of Croatia. The EUG 2016 will support their project implementation with the amount of 15,000 KN. Teams LIGO and Limitless will launch projects promoting tourist culture and sports in Croatia. The Ministry of Tourism will support this project with 200,000 KN. The city of Zagreb also provided 70,000 KN for Students Association of the City of Zagreb for the category “Urban Zagreb”.
“This project shows that students should get such opportunities because they are worthy opponent to the business world. We are especially pleased to organize the Games for students – with students” – said the Secretary General of the EUG 2016, Marko Zunic.
In cooperation with the EUG 2016, Ministry of Tourism, city of Zagreb and HAMAG-BICRO, this project supported best students to take real actions, to learn and familiarize themselves with entrepreneurship and realization of their innovative ideas with the guidance of their mentors.
“We are extremely pleased with the projects. Students showed a great knowledge, creativity and entrepreneurial spirit in representing answers to the challenges of the European Universities Games. Due to the achieved success, HAMAG-BICRO will continue with projects like these, as well to build an interaction between companies and students” – said Ivana Zorz, the director of Development and customer support at the HAMAG-BICRO.

Zagreb-Rijeka, Croatia: July 12 – 25, 2016
The 3rd edition of the European Universities Games will be held in the Croatian cities Zagreb and Rijeka in July 2016. Sport featured are Badminton, Basketball, Basketball 3×3, Beach Volleyball, Bridge, Chess, Football, Futsal, Golf, Handball, Judo, Karate, Rowing, Rugby 7’s, Sport Climbing, Swimming, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Tennis, Volleyball and Water Polo. Two of the sports – Table Tennis and Swimming – will also include competitions for students with disabilities. Apart of the sports competitions, the Games will be accompanied by the Rector’s Conference, educational side-events, cultural program and other activities.
