European Universities Games are the largest multi-sport competition in Europe, and a media platform that will mark a milestone for further development of Croatian university sports.

During the european Universities Games Zagreb – Rijeka 2015, between 1,500 and 2,000 volunteers will live a unique experience in this great cultural and multi-spors event. Volunteers will be the backbone of the organization.

News - Annual CASF awards ceremony for year 2015.
On December 16th 2015, the annual awards ceremony of the Croatian Academic Sports Federation was held at the ceremonial hall of the University of Zagreb. The Rector of the University of Zagreb, Mr Damir Boras, the president of the Croatian Academic Sports Federation, Zrinko Custonja and Vice-Presidents Toni Gamulin and Haris Pavletic, awarded the winners. The award categories were the best female and male and teams, best female and male individuals, fair play award and a lifetime achievement award.
The Rector Boras and the President Custonja pointed out the huge success of all winners and their important role in promoting and developing academic sport in Croatia. They also expressed wishes to repeat those victories at the European Universities Games Zagreb – Rijeka 2016.
This year’s winners were the women’s basketball team of the University of Zagreb, as a gold medallists at the European Universities Championship in Koper; men’s futsal team of University of Applied Sciences VERN’ – winning the champion title at the European Universities Championships in Poznan; Andrea Bekić, as a silver medallist at the Summer Universiade 2015 in judo; Kristijan Grbeša, also gold medallist from Poznan in futsal; Zagreb University Sports Association as a Fair play award winner and Professor Jadranka Protic as the lifetime achievement award winner.

Zagreb-Rijeka, Croatia: July 12 – 25, 2016
The 3rd edition of the European Universities Games will be held in the Croatian cities Zagreb and Rijeka in July 2016. Sport featured are Badminton, Basketball, Basketball 3×3, Beach Volleyball, Bridge, Chess, Football, Futsal, Golf, Handball, Judo, Karate, Rowing, Rugby 7’s, Sport Climbing, Swimming, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Tennis, Volleyball and Water Polo. Two of the sports – Table Tennis and Swimming – will also include competitions for students with disabilities. Apart of the sports competitions, the Games will be accompanied by the Rector’s Conference, educational side-events, cultural program and other activities.
