Darko Lorencin, Minister of Tourism and Darko Liovic, CEO of Croatian Agency for SMEs, Innovation and Investments, signed an agreement on the implementation of the project UNIverzI-JA-DA.

Ministry of Tourism and Croatian Agency for SMEs, Innovation and Investments (HAMAG-BICRO) launched the project which aim is to encourage students to entrepreneurial activity through a network of student business incubators during their university education.

“The goal of the project UNIverzI-JA-DA is to support the best student solutions that will help with the organization of the European Universities Games in July 2016. The main purpose of the project is to provide an opportunity for the students to take real actions, to learn and familiarize themselves with entrepreneurship and realization of their innovative ideas with the guidance of their mentors.

“This project is not only important for the organization of European Universities Games and promotion of Croatia in tourism and sport, but also as an educational and entrepreneurial initiative. Tourism is an industry that is constantly evolving and its trends often change. Therefore, it is important to encourage innovation and creativity in young people so that future entrepreneurs in the tourism sector could be as competitive as possible and one day could create trends on their own” – said the Minister of Tourism Darko Lorencin.

During this occasion, HAMAG-BICRO has also signed an agreement with the European Universities Games Zagreb – Rijeka 2016 that defines the student assignment in creating mobile application.

European Universities Games represent the biggest European sport event in 2016, as well as the most popular sport event in the history of Croatia. In 2016, Zagreb and Rijeka will host over 5.500 students and approximately 1.500 volunteers. It is our wish that the Games become sort of a boost for larger social changes. The project where students create new values between each other and society in general on the best way will represent the spirit of motto of the Games, “Heart believes – mind achieves – said the Secretary-General of the EUG 2016, Marko Zunic.
