News - Drummers – support for the Israeli futsal team from Ben-Gurion University

We have a new story from the sports courts! The men’s futsal competition is under way and the teams are slowly warming up, but the fans of the Israeli athletes have been supporting their darlings from the very start. There was a very interesting sight at the game between the Armenian State University of Economics and the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev from Israel. When the Israeli fans came to the stands carrying drums, a flag, and other equipment, it was clear that the Israeli team would have an extra player. One of them, Daniel Gal, is the delegate of the futsal team, while the other two, Ron Cohen and Elad Elisha, are here to support their team. That makes them one of a kind at the Games.

‘In Israel we have a fan group for our University, which is the first and only one of its kind in Israel. We have our webpage as well, and hundreds of people come to university sport games.’

They brought all of their equipment with them from Israel, and they cheer for their team throughout the game, playing several instruments at the stands. They all come from the same university, but are studying at different faculties. The team from Israel play in the Israeli league, where they reached the finals, but there are no professionals, they are all there because they love sport.

‘This is our first time in Zagreb. We have just arrived, we still haven’t managed to see the city, but we really like what we have seen so far.’
