Water balloon fight in the Athletes’ Village

Summer in Zagreb can often be unbearably hot and that’s why the volunteers at the European Universities Games Zagreb-Rijeka 2016 decided to cool off by organizing a water balloon fight.

The volunteers were divided into three groups – red, white and blue, and there were no rules, except that by the end of the fight you were supposed to be as dry as possible.

The war was very tense and the colourful balloons of every size flew from all sides and all directions in the hot summer air.
Even some athletes, who until then looked on from the side-lines, joined this colourful war.

For volunteer Stefano Antonin this was a perfect opportunity to cool off, and he also said that this was a perfect opportunity for socializing and meeting new people.

According to Dora Vidović the balloon fight was too short, but it was cool. Dora, along with her colleague Ana Kahlić filled the balloons before the fight. Ana liked the fight because she could meet and connect with a lot more people than usual.
