Unforgettable scenes for a humanitarian cause: the sky over Rijeka illuminated with thousands of lanterns

An unforgettable scene took place on Wednesday night in Rijeka. At sunset, thousands of people headed to the Terminal; they waited for the dark, then illuminated the sky with thousands of lanterns.

The action ‘Lighten the sky – leave a mark’ was organized by the European Universities Games and the Prvo Plinarsko Društvo in cooperation with the Student Council of the University of Rijeka and the LEO Club Rijeka.

It was an impressive sight which attracted a lot of people, but also much more than that, as all the money collected from selling the lanterns will be used for buying conditional training equipment for athletes with disabilities.

The band Officer Down created a good atmosphere, playing even as the lanterns were released into the air. The event was followed by a theme afterparty at Club Mystique River. Dubbed ‘#CRONOLOGY party’, it was concieved as a journey through Croatian music.
