In the third round of the chess competition at the European Universities Games Zagreb – Rijeka 2016 Baira Kovanovna from the Ural State Mining University and Caterina Leonardi from the University of Ljubljana achieved 100 percent efficiency and won 3 points. The first place in the team was won by the chess players from the University of Ljubljana with 5 points.

In the men’s competition only Gabuzyan Hovhanne from the Armenian State Institute of Physical Culture managed to grasp all three victories while seven contestants share an identical result of 2,5 points.

Van Der Velden Bram and Martyn Rafe both agreed that the atmosphere at the Games was excellent and that the competition in chess was well organised. “Today I played pretty well” said Rafe but Bram was not feeling good today and was not satisfied with his game.

The Armenian State Institute of Physical Culture team is in the lead with 5,5 points while the University of Zagreb is behind them with 5 points.

The competition will continue tomorrow at 10.00 hours at 10 at Pauk Hall.
