News - Ivan Stevanovic, the miracle from Rijeka joined the EUG 2016 Ambassadors
Ivan Stevanovic, the “miracle” from Rijeka is the new Ambassador of European Universities Games Zagreb – Rijeka 2016. The goalkeeper of the Croatian national handball team got a nickname “miraculous Stevie” after his incredible defenses at the European Men’s Handball Championship in Poland.
“I look forward to the Games, which will bring together young people from all over Europe in two of my favorite cities in the world – Rijeka, where I was born, and Zagreb, where I live and play”, said Stevie.
“Young people can only prosper by practicing sports. Sport builds character and teaches them how to fulfill their potential and how to deal with the challenges that life brings”, said Stevie.
“Our Sunday victory, when we have qualified for the quarter-finals, just proved me the true meaning of the EUG 2016 motto: When the heart believes – mind achieves. With a little faith, anything is possible.”
After a minimal defeat in Zagreb Arena, the PPD Zagreb won in a dramatic match last Sunday against the RN Löwen from Mannheim, Germany and qualified for the quarter-finals of the most prestigious handball club competition for men’s teams in Europe – EHF Champions League.

“Without Hamlet” is an award-winning play that explores what would happen to Hamlet if its protagonist took a day off. Whilst turning the world’s best-known tragedy into a comedy, the performers still pay hommage to the great work by citing its best quotes and putting the work into a modern-day context.
