News - The Hungarians and the Dutch play thriller basketball match

The toughest match played at Dražen Petrović Basketball Hall so far was definitely the one between the players of the Hungarian University of Debrecen and the Dutch University of Tilburg. The match ended with the victory of the Dutch with a score of 65:63.

The game had a great start, with both sides showing impressive scoring ability. But then things went sour for Hungary as the University of Tilburg took the lead, leading by fourteen points. They proceeded to the breaks with confidence and came back into the game even stronger. And just when it seemed that the score was cemented, everything turned around. Debrecen players started to throw counter-attacks and Tilburg’s advantage slowly started to melt. Only four minutes before the end the Hungarians made a slam dunk and came close, tailing Tilburg by only four points.

No one had known who would walk as the victor up to the last minute. In the last seconds of the game, the score difference was only one point, but the players from the University of Tilburg managed to squeeze in one more shot and won the game.

“I’m happy with the result, we only came here to play but we did not expect this at all. We had a 14-point lead and then the Hungarians woke up. No, we definitely did not expect this.” said De Vries, the best player of the game, who was, interestingly, wearing a jersey with number 7 – which obviously proved lucky.
