News - Gala and the EUG 2016 – Partners in the Greatest Sports Event in Croatian History
“Since we are the only European producer of volleyball balls, I think it is fitting that we should be the European University Games partners,” said Michal Preininger, CEO Gala, a renowned Czech producer of sports balls. He visited the European University Games Zagreb- Rijeka 2016 office in Zagreb on Tuesday, 14th June, together with Alena Grmelova, the Head of Export Department and Luka Humski, Gala’s representative in Croatia.
“This is a really great event and we hope it will turn out successful. According to what we have seen, the preparations are going well and we wish the best of luck to the organisers, “concluded Preininger.
After the visit to the Games office, Zrinko Čustonja, President of the Games, Vicepresident Haris Pavletić, Marko Žunić, Secretary General, Gordan Kožulj, President of the Marketing Committee and Krunoslava Kauzlarić of the Marketing Committee presented the partners from Gala with all current achievements, as well as with everything still awaiting us at the European University Games.
After visiting the EUG office, the Gala representatives visited the Dražen Petrović Memorial Centre dedicated to the greatest Croatian basketball player, who represented the values the European University Games are trying to represent – professional sport played with love for game and with fair play between athletes.
Dražen lighting the flame at the opening of the 1987 Summer Universiade and the gold medal he won at the competition as a student- athlete make up an unforgettable part of our sports history.
Last December the EUG 2016 and Gala signed a partnership agreement, by which it was agreed that Gala’s ball will be the official sports ball at volleyball and basketball competitions.

“Without Hamlet” is an award-winning play that explores what would happen to Hamlet if its protagonist took a day off. Whilst turning the world’s best-known tragedy into a comedy, the performers still pay hommage to the great work by citing its best quotes and putting the work into a modern-day context.
