Borovo, the manufacturer of the well-known Croatian Startas sneakers, which have been featured in the famous fashion magazine Vogue, has released a special edition of Startas bearing the colors and logo of the European Universities Games Zagreb – Rijeka 2106. At a press conference held on July 8 at the Faculty of Kinesiology in Zagreb, Dubravko Šimenc, brand manager of Startas, talked about the creation process, focusing on the editition dedicated to the Games.
Encouraged by the international success of this Croatian product, Šimenc said that he hoped Croatian athletes would also promote Startas shoes as a fashion accessory.
A good start for that will be the opening ceremony, when the Croatian representatives will ceremoniously walk wearing the EUG 2016 Startas shoes.
Krešimir Dolenčić, the director of the opening ceremony of the Games, announced the ceremony itself and talked about the details of the performance. Numerous dancers will take part in the ceremony, as well as a choir, several thousand athletes and a large number of volunteers, who will make sure that everything goes according to plan. The ceremony will take place at Mladost Stadium on July 13 at 21:00 hours, and will be broadcast live on TV.
The Croatian Post made sure that the postcards sent from Croatia to places all over Europe are also in the spirit of this great sporting event. Their representative Stela Prislan – Fujs presented a new stamp with the logo of the EUG 2016 and Hrki, the mascot.
The President of the European Universities Games Zrinko Čuštonja announced the start of the Games and invited all citizens to come and see the competitions and support the young competitors. The entrance to all sports venues is free, and free tickets to the opening ceremony can be picked up at the cash desks of Zagreb swimming pools.
“We are ready. The Games can begin,” said Čuštonja.
