News - Croatian water polo players as new Ambassadors of EUG 2016

The players of water polo club “Primorje Erste Bank” in Rijeka are the new ambassadors of the European Universities Games Zagreb – Rijeka 2016 (EUG 2016), under a project that will help promote their city, universities and sports. They showed their support and devotion to the Games at a press conference for the upcoming matches in regional “Triglav league”. Players Ivan Krapic and Damir Buric were the first to wear T-shirts with the image of the official mascot of the Games – Hrki. This way, they will promote water polo in Rijeka and continue supporting the Games.

Ivan Krapic is a center position water polo player. As a player of water polo club “Primorje Erste Bank” in Rijeka, he won the Croatian Cup and regional “Triglav league”. As part of the Croatian national team, he won the gold at the Mediterranean Games in 2013. Damir Buric competed in the 2004 and the 2008 Summer Olympic Games. At the 2012 Summer Olympics, he was part of the Croatian team that won the Olympic tournament. He also won World and European champion title during his water polo career.

And not just the two of them, but the whole water polo team “Primorje Erste Bank”, will inspire future generations of kids and students to develop in the same professional direction as they had. The European Universities Games 2016 will be part of this wonderful story, as one of the focal points of their mission in presenting water polo to new generations.
