Members of EUSA (European University Sports Association) visited Rijeka on September 28th as part of their Supervision visit to the host cities of the European Univerisities Games Zagreb – Rijeka 2016. They have supervised the latest developments in the organization of the Games in Rijeka. That included gathering information on the latest projects, the pace of construction of the new student dormitories and the continuing efforts of the organizing committee in ensuring the best European Universities Games ever, setting a standard for all future events.

They met the Mayor of the city, Vojko Obersnel, as well as the Rector of the University of Rijeka, Pero Lučin. The EUSA representatives thanked them for their continuing support in organizing the Games. They also used this opportunity to visit the venues of the competitions in the following next year.

The Supervision commission is composed of three members of the EUSA Executive Committee, Aitor Canibe Sanchez, Kemal Tamer and Arie Rosenzweig, as well as the EUSA General Secretary Matjaz Pecovnik and the EUSA Sports Director Patrik Perosa.

Rijeka will host competitions in seven sports, gathering approximately 1500 students. The participants will match skills in the disciplines of taekwondo, karate and judo, and team sports of water polo, handball and basketball 3×3. Aside from those listed, Rijeka will host competitions in swimming, including a swimming competition for athletes with disabilities.
