News - Graffiti ticked away a year until the official start of the EUG 2016

13/07/2015. – The town centers of Zagreb and Rijeka sprouted with graffiti writings “365 Get ready!” this morning. A numerous graffiti have appeared at the most visited areas in Zagreb and Rijeka, and drew the interest of many passers-by. This provoked a strong debate on social networks.

Despite various speculations, this graffiti celebrated the fact that we are exactly 365 days away from the opening of the European Universities Games in Rijeka and Zagreb.

Over 5000 student athletes from more than 40 European countries will compete in 21 sports in July 2016. It will be a big sports event, as well as a social one. The Games will represent one of the biggest sporting events in the recent history of Croatia. With a huge number of competitors, it already tops the legendary 1987 Universiade in Zagreb.

The preparations for the European Universities Games Zagreb – Rijeka 2016 are in full swing. Numerous sport venues will be renewed for the purpose of the Games so the students will have a great legacy for the future activities. While Rijeka is building a new dormitory, the students of the Zagreb will soon come to a completely refurbished accommodation at dormitories Stjepan Radic and Cvjetno naselje.

Over 1000 volunteers from all over Europe also show how big this event will be. The organizers are still inviting anyone who is interested to take part in organizing the most successful European Universities Games in history. The applications are available at the official web site of the Games http://eug2016.com/volunteers/.

The “WARM-up” project for EUG 2016 continues as we prepared a number of fun, educational and sports activities for students and all citizens.
