News - Safety at the highest level

Joško Morić, member of the EUG 2016 Safety Committee, confirmed that all those in charge of security were doing their job diligently at all times.

“We have everything under control and the Games are going according to plan. Our safety measures are typical for a competition with this many participants and staff members,” Morić said.

We made sure that the entrance to Zagreb’s Athletes Village was monitored in accordance with the highest safety standards in order to make the athletes’ stay at the Games as comfortable as possible.

To enter the Village, it is necessary to show the security guards a valid accreditation card and open any large bags for inspection. The guards are doing their job thoroughly and without exception, always checking if the accreditation photo matches the person using it. Apart from dangerous objects, alcohol is also banned in the Village.

The entire Athletes Village is protected by a newly erected fence and surveillance cameras. Video surveillance also covers other locations in the proximity of the Village, such as the Roko Club, the official lounge zone of the EUG 2016.

The Roko Club lounge zone has already been recognized by the participants and volunteers as a great place for having fun and hanging out between the sporting events. Many participants of the Games spend their nights in the city centre as well, where they are offered a wide array of entertainment options.

The Student Dormitory “Stjepan Radić” offers the ideal conditions for rest and preparation before competitions.
