News - Basketball thriller goes to Warsaw

The most exciting match of the first day at Pešćenica Hall was definitely the game between the University of Warsaw and the University of Bochum. After a real thriller in the last quarter, the vice champions from the Koper championship won with a score of 54:42. Judging from we have seen, Group D will be pretty exciting, with three teams showing a quarterfinals-worthy performance.

Among the vice champions, the best players were Marzena Marcinjak and Anna Pawlowska with 15 points, while Emina Karić stood out in the Bochum team.

One of the best Warsaw players, Marzena Marcinjak, praised her opponents and their supporters.

‘Considering that they came to the competition with only seven players, we were expecting a much easier game. We underestimated our opponents, which cannot happen again. I think that their supporters were the ones who gave them the extra strength and made out job more difficult.’

Emina Karić, the most efficient player from Bochum, was happy after the game.

‘We tried to play as a team and we were hoping that they would not expect a big resistance on our part. Our supporter were fantastic and we will pay them back the first chance we get and support them at the court.’
