News - Blitz tournament held on the penultimate day of chess competition

One round was played earlier today at the EUG chess competition, while a blitz tournament for both men and women was held in the afternoon.

Zaven Andriasan from Armenia won the men’s blitz tournament. In nine games he registered seven wins and two draws. In the second and third place are Pavel Ponkratov and Maksim Chigaev from Russia with 7.5 and 7 points respectively.

Anastasia Travkina from Russia won in the women’s tournament with four wins and three draws and 7.5 points. Serbians Adela Velikić and Jovana Erić came in second and third.

On the penultimate day of the team competition the Armenians are in the lead and will probably win the gold. In the second place, with the same number of points, are the teams from the University of Belgrade and the Ural State Mining University, who will continue to fight for the medals tomorrow.

In the women’s competition, the girls from Belgrade are in the lead and they are only two rounds away from going home with the gold. The University of Ljubljana and the Ural State Mining University hold the second and third place.
