Men’s basketball: VERN’ wins convincingly against Ljubljana 76:59

In the first basketball game of the European Universities Games Zagreb – Rijeka 2016 held on Tuesday July 12, VERN’ team won convincingly against Ljubljana 76:59 at Dražen Petrović Sports Hall.

The beginning of the match was tense and the score was tied. The team from Ljubljana held on strongly and launched a strong attack on VERN’.

‘This is the first game of the tournament, we didn’t know what to except. We started strongly and in the end we crushed them’, said Luka Živko, one of the best players from VERN’.
Even VERN’s coach couldn’t hide his elation.

‘I’m very pleased, we probably played the best game ever. We played on a very high level, from the beginning till the end.’

Yesterday at training the boys from Ljubljana announced they’ll fight for the medal, and now they mourn for their lost opportunity. At home they won numerous game and tournaments and VERN’ sunk them with the margin of 17 points.

Their coach Marko now hopes for the best in the rest of the tournament.

‘We have nothing else to lose, we’ll wait for the rest of the matches, you never know what can happen. We will fight till the end.’
