VISA APPLICATION PROCEDURE

  1. WHO NEEDS CROATIAN VISA?

All participants are required to check the website of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of Croatia http://www.mvep.hr/en/consular-information/visas/visa-requirements-overview/ to check if they require a visa for Croatia. Please note that all EU citizen can travel to Croatia with a valid ID or a valid passport and do not need a visa.

  1. EXEMPTIONS:
  2. SCHENGEN, BULGARIAN, CYPRIOT, AND ROMANIAN VISAS AND RESIDENCE PERMITS

All participants who are holders of valid Schengen documents (uniform visa C for two (2) or multiple (MULTI) entries, residence permit), as well as national visas and residence permits of Bulgaria, Cyprus, and Romania do not require an additional (Croatian) visa for Croatia.

Participants who are holders of the following documents do not require a visa for Croatia:

  • uniform visa (C) for two (2) or multiple (MULT) entries, valid for all Schengen Area Member States;
  • visa with limited territorial validity (LTV visa), for two or multiple entries, issued to the holder of a travel document that is not recognized by one or more, but not all of the Schengen Area Member States, and which is valid for the territory of the Member States recognizing the travel document;
  • long-stay visa (D) for stays exceeding three months, issued by one of the Schengen Area Member State;
  • residence permit issued by one of the Schengen Area Member State;
  • national visas for two or multiple entries and residence permits of Bulgaria, Cyprus and Romania listed in Annex I, Annex III and Annex IV of the Decision No 565/2014/EU.

The period of validity of the above mentioned Schengen, Bulgarian, Cypriot, and Romanian documents must cover the duration of stay and still be valid at the moment of leaving Croatia.

Please note that Schengen visa of type C or Bulgarian, Cypriot, or Romanian visa valid for single entrance only does not exempt you from Croatian visa. Please note that holders of UK and Irish visas or residence permits are not exempted from Croatian visa.

  1. DIPLOMATIC, SERVICE AND SPECIAL PASSPORTS

Holders of valid diplomatic and service passports of the following states do not require a visa for Croatia: Armenia, Bolivia, China, Columbia, Cuba, Georgia, India, Indonesia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Moldova, Oman, Peru, Philippines, Qatar, Russia, South Africa, Thailand, Tunisia, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, Vietnam.

Holders of valid diplomatic, service and special passports of the following countries do not require a visa for Croatia: Egypt, Morocco, Turkey.

Holders of valid diplomatic passports of the following countries do not require a visa for Croatia: Algeria, Jordan.

All participants are required to check if they need a visa for Croatia. If you do not hold one of the above mentioned documents, you have to apply for a Croatian visa!

  1. WHERE TO APPLY FOR CROATIAN VISA?

Regarding visa procedure process, as a general rule, aliens who require a visa have to appear in person at least once at the nearest Croatian Embassy in his/her area of residence earliest three months before the planned visit.

The requirement of personal appearance may be waived if the application is submitted via official diplomatic channel accompanied by a verbal note of the respected Embassy or the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of his/her country of origin.

If there is no Croatian Embassy/Consular Office of the Republic of Croatia please contact the nearest Croatian diplomatic mission regarding the possibility of submitting your visa application via Honorary Consul of the Republic of Croatia or by post/e-mail.

However, bear in mind that should you arrange with our diplomatic mission to submit your documents by post/e-mail, you would need to appear in person at one of our Embassies as well as bring original documents.

Applicants can also fill out the visa application form on-line at crovisa.mvep.hr (available in English, Russian, Ukrainian, Albanian, and Turkish language). Printed and filled out application form along with other required documents should be submitted to the competent Croatian Embassy/Consulate or visa centre.

Visa applications can also be submitted at VFS Visa Application Centres in: Algeria, Belarus, China, Egypt, Philippines, Georgia, India, Indonesia, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Lebanon, Qatar, Kuwait, Morocco, Nigeria, South Africa, Oman, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, Ukraine, and Vietnam.   1. WHICH DOCUMENTS NEED TO BE SUBMITTED WHEN APPLYNIG FOR CROATIAN VISA?

The following documents need to be enclosed (presented) with the application:

  1. Filled-in and signed visa application form: http://www.mvep.hr/en/consular-information/visas/forms/visa-application/ or online visa application form: https://crovisa.mvep.hr/
  2. A valid travel document: the period of validity of the travel document should exceed that of the visa’s by three (3) months, it must include at least two empty pages and must be issued in the preceding 10 years;
  3. A colour photograph (35 x 45 mm);
  4. Invitation Letter by the organizer – European Universities Games Zagreb-Rijeka 2016
  5. Tourist voucher or reservation of accommodation: only if you are planning an additional stay in Croatia for the purpose of tourism before or after the Games
  6. Means of transport (reservation of the return flight ticket);
  7. Proof of paid visa fee
  8. Valid travel health insurance: has to be valid for the Republic of Croatia for the whole duration of your stay, and the lowest sum insured must be equivalent to 30,000 EUR.

Please make all preparations on time in order to leave enough time to the competent authorities of the Republic of Croatia to process your visa applications in accordance with the Croatian and the EU legislation!
