European Universities Games are the largest multi-sport competition in Europe, and a media platform that will mark a milestone for further development of Croatian university sports.

News - Swimming: Medals awarded in 14 events
The finals on 14 events were held on the second day of swimming and para swimming competitions. The most attractive event was the men’s team freestyle relay 4 x 50 m. The men’s team from the University of Zagreb won the first place, Yeditepe University was second, and the University of Coimbra was third.
In the men’s individual tournament freestyle 50 m, Simon Hengel from SRH University Heidelberg won the gold medal, Tim-Thorben Suck from the University of Potsdam won the silver medal, and David Cumberlidge from Heriot Watt University won the bronze medal. In the women’s individual tournament freestyle 50 m, Anemari Košak from the University of Ljubljana won the gold; Carmen Herrero from the Technical University of Madrid won the silver, while Sanja Jovanović, Croatian record holder from the University of Split, won the bronze medal.
In the men’s individual tournament backstroke 100 m, Mark Fischer from SRH University Heidelberg won the shiniest medal, and in the same event for women, it was Sanja Jovanović from the University of Split that won the gold medal.
Ayse Ezgi Yazici from Yeditepe University won the gold medal in the women’s individual event butterfly 50 m, while in the men’s event, Marko Todorović from the University of Split won the gold medal.
The representative of Sheffield Hallam University, Abbie Houston, won gold in women’s individual event freestyle 400 m, while in the men’s category of the same event, Michael Gunning from the University of East London was the best.
In the men’s tournament freestyle para 50 m S10 category, Nicholas Le Hir from the University of Vichy was first, Miroslav Susnyak from the University of Košice was second, and Antonio Franko from the University of Rijeka was third.
In the S12 category, the gold went into the hands of Lazar Filipović from the University of Kragujevac, and in S5 category the gold went to Haris Muratović from Gea College in Ljubljana.
Medal winners in the S6 category were: Antun Brzak from the University of Zagreb won gold, Viktor Kemeny from Slovak University won silver, and Jaume Monasterio from the University of Catalonia won the bronze medal.
Dino Sinovčić and Leonardno Renić from the University of Split, and Matija Maraš from the University of Rijeka won medals in the S7 category.
In the S8 category, the winner of the gold medal was Karlo Knežević from the University of Zagreb, and in the last category of the men’s tournament freestyle para 50 m, S9, Kristijan Mamić from the University of Zagreb was in the first place, while Nemanja Tadić from the University of Niš was in the second place.
In the women’s tournament freestyle para 50 m, the competition was held in five categories. Boglarka Kollarszky from Eotvos Lorand University from Hungary won the gold medal in the S11 category, and in S12 category, the winner of the gold medal was Rocio Murillo Cerro from the University of Cordoba. In the S13 category, Laura M. Hernandez from the University of Valencia took the gold.
Alba Villa Gonzales from the University of Valencia won the gold medal in the S5 category, and Sanja Polić from the University of Rijeka won the silver medal. In the S8 category, Leyre Orti Campos from the University of Valencia won gold, Petra Brletić from the University of Zagreb won silver, and Gundem Emine Intepe from Istanbul Ticaret University won the bronze medal.
In the men’s tournament butterfly para 50 m, the competition was held in three categories. In the S10 category, Nicholas Le Hir from the University of Vichy was first, Miroslav Susnyak from the University of Košice was second. The final event of the day was men’s freestyle para 400 m in five categories.
Jaume Monasterio from the University of Catalonia won the gold medal in the S6 category; Matija Maraš from the Unviersity of Zagreb won gold in the S7 category, Nemanja Tadić from the University of Niš in S9, and Lazar Filipović from the University of Kragujevac in S12. Zagreb-Rijeka, Croatia: July 12 – 25, 2016
The 3rd edition of the European Universities Games will be held in the Croatian cities Zagreb and Rijeka in July 2016. Sport featured are Badminton, Basketball, Basketball 3×3, Beach Volleyball, Bridge, Chess, Football, Futsal, Golf, Handball, Judo, Karate, Rowing, Rugby 7’s, Sport Climbing, Swimming, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Tennis, Volleyball and Water Polo. Two of the sports – Table Tennis and Swimming – will also include competitions for students with disabilities. Apart of the sports competitions, the Games will be accompanied by the Rector’s Conference, educational side-events, cultural program and other activities.
