European Universities Games are the largest multi-sport competition in Europe, and a media platform that will mark a milestone for further development of Croatian university sports.

News - Rijeka prepares for official closing ceremony
A day before the end of the biggest multi-sporting event of academic sport in Europe and the biggest European Universities Games so far, the preparations for the closing ceremony are coming to an end in Rijeka. The official closing ceremony of EUG 2016 will be held on 25th July at 21.00 hours on the 128th Croatian Brigade Square in Rijeka, with a live broadcast on Croatian National Television (HTV).
The parade of athletes – participants of the Games and volunteers will head from the Karolina Riječka Pier at 20:40 hours and go to the 128th Croatian Brigade Square, where the program will be held.
Veljko Obersnel, Mayor of Rijeka, Pero Lučin, PhD, Rector of the University of Rijeka, Adam Roczek, president of EUSA, Haris Pavletić, vice-president of EUSA and the EUG 2016, and Daniel Montero, representative of the Portuguese city of Coimbra, the host of the European Universities Games 2018, will all address the participants of the Games.
The director of the closing ceremony is Krešimir Dolenčić, and it will involve performances by groups such as Putokazi, Parkour, Ri RUN, Gradska Glazba Trsat, and many others.
We would like to remind all the participants of the Games, tourists, and citizens of Rijeka that there will be a short traffic break on Monday, July 25 from 20.30 to 21.00 on Riva Street and Adamićeva Street because of the athletes’ parade.

Zagreb-Rijeka, Croatia: July 12 – 25, 2016
The 3rd edition of the European Universities Games will be held in the Croatian cities Zagreb and Rijeka in July 2016. Sport featured are Badminton, Basketball, Basketball 3×3, Beach Volleyball, Bridge, Chess, Football, Futsal, Golf, Handball, Judo, Karate, Rowing, Rugby 7’s, Sport Climbing, Swimming, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Tennis, Volleyball and Water Polo. Two of the sports – Table Tennis and Swimming – will also include competitions for students with disabilities. Apart of the sports competitions, the Games will be accompanied by the Rector’s Conference, educational side-events, cultural program and other activities.
