News - Lisa won the gold medal for her parents who drove all the way from Linz

Lisa Farthofer represents the University of Linz at the European Universities Games 2016. She’s a rower competing in single scull, and her parents drove all the way from Linz, a trip which took five and a half hours by car, to support their daughter in the final.

Lisa finished first, winning thee gold medal, and had a good reason to party with her team tonight.

‘We always celebrate. We would have celebrated even if Lisa hadn’t won. Winning is important, but there’s more to life than winning,’ said her father.

Indeed, when it comes to sports, it’s more important to participate.

This was not the first time that Lisa’s parents came to support her.

‘We have already been to several places, including Croatia.’

As a matter of fact, Lisa Farthofer missd the Olympic qualifying standard for a split of a second. Nevertheless, we congratulate for her European success this week and wish her family a safe trip back home.
