News - Croatian Domination in Para table tennis

While France won one gold medal today in Paratable tennis, Croatia gained two gold medals as well as one silver medal.

Croatian players Daniel Lazov, from the University of Zagreb, and Angela Muzinic, representing the University of Split, both won gold in the single s wheelchair competition.

Being successfull worldwide, Angela Muzinic will soon take part at the Paralympic Games 2016 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

“The integration of para sports at the European University Games is a great evolution. Everybody should get the opportunity to compete, no matter if you are handicapped or not”, says proudly Para table tennis player Anto Joskic coming from the University of Zagreb.

Elias Debeyssac from the Unversity of Bordeaux and Polish player Marlusy Olczak from the University of Warsaw confronted each other this afternoon in the men s single final. The final was also only reserved to handiccaped athletes, but this time for those who are able to walk.

Winning easily 11 to 4 and 11 to 8 in the beginning, the French player Elias Debeyssac got diffculties in the third set. Thanks to a strong defense, the University of Warsaw won the third set 11 to 9.

Even though the Polish player Marlusy Olczak made a lot of efforts to win, he didn t resist his opponents attacks and finally lost the fourth set 6 to 11.

Thus, the University of Bordeaux earns the gold medal in men s single para table tennis and bronze goes go to the University of Warsaw.

At the same time, the final for the third place was played.
While Michael Deisgler represented the University of Poznan, the Croatian player Pavao Jozic came from the University of Zagreb.

Although the Polish player Michael Deisgler won th efirst set 11 to 9, he lost twice 10 to 12 afterwards.
In a matter of fact, the University of Zagreb made less mistakes and increased attacking.

Losing 0 to 5 in the fourth set, the University of Poznan kept being concentrated and caught up to the score of seven all. Nevertheless, Croatian player Pavao Jozic wins the silver medal for the University of Zagreb after winning the fourth set 11 to 9.
