European Universities Games are the largest multi-sport competition in Europe, and a media platform that will mark a milestone for further development of Croatian university sports.

During the european Universities Games Zagreb – Rijeka 2015, between 1,500 and 2,000 volunteers will live a unique experience in this great cultural and multi-spors event. Volunteers will be the backbone of the organization.
VolunteeringNews - Croatian athletes win medals in most EUG sports
Although many competitions at the European Universities Games Zagreb – Rijeka 2016 are still ongoing, the race for medals in rowing, karate, chess, rugby, water polo, basketball, tennis, and handball has come to an end. Croatian student athletes are competing in all categories at the Games and many of them have already been awarded medals.
Karate
Dino Povrženić from the University of Zagreb won a bronze medal in men’s kumite -67 kg.
Also from the University of Zagreb, Enes Garibović won a gold medal and Marijan Logarušić a bronze medal in men’s kumite 75 kg.
Anđelo Kvesić from the University of Zagreb won a gold medal in men’s kumite +84 kg.
Ana Lenard, karateist from the University of Zagreb, won a gold medal in women’s kumite -61 kg, while her colleague Ana Škunca won a silver medal in women’s kumite +68 kg.
Rowing
Luka Radonić from the University of Zagreb won a gold medal in lightweight men’s single skull.
Also in men’s rowing, Luka Radonić and Vedran Radonić won a gold medal in lightweight double skull, while Luka Pap and Dominik Šutalo from the University of Zagreb won a silver medal in that same category.
Juraj Prokopec and Tin Pozaić from the University of Zagreb were awarded a silver medal in lightweight men’s coxless pair.
The quad skull team from the University of Zagreb won a gold medal in the men’s rowing competition.
The team from the University of Split won a bronze medal in men’s coxless four.
The men’s coxed eight team from the University of Zagreb won a bronze medal.
Marcela Milošević and Valentina Plejić won a gold medal in women’s double skull.
Water polo
In men’s water polo, Croatian teams won all three medals. The gold medal went to the team from the University of Rijeka, the silver medal to the team from the University of Zagreb, while the bronze medal was awarded to the University of Split.
The University of Rijeka won a silver medal in the women’s water polo competition.
Handball
In the women’s handball tournament, the players from the University of Rijeka were awarded a gold medal, while the team from the University of Zagreb won a bronze medal.
Basketball
The players from the University of Zagreb won a gold medal in the women’s basketball competition, while the men’s team from the University of Zagreb won a silver medal.

Zagreb-Rijeka, Croatia: July 12 – 25, 2016
The 3rd edition of the European Universities Games will be held in the Croatian cities Zagreb and Rijeka in July 2016. Sport featured are Badminton, Basketball, Basketball 3×3, Beach Volleyball, Bridge, Chess, Football, Futsal, Golf, Handball, Judo, Karate, Rowing, Rugby 7’s, Sport Climbing, Swimming, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Tennis, Volleyball and Water Polo. Two of the sports – Table Tennis and Swimming – will also include competitions for students with disabilities. Apart of the sports competitions, the Games will be accompanied by the Rector’s Conference, educational side-events, cultural program and other activities.
