News - Women’s basketball: Budapest University of Physical Education “demolished” Bahçeşehir University

The students of the Hungarian University of Physical Education in Budapest taught their colleagues from Turkey a lesson and defeated them in the second game of Group C. There was nothing the girls from the Bosphorus could do, because Zoltan Boroš’s team was more than convincing, winning the game with a score of 90-40.

Best ranked in the winning team were Julianna Karlocai and Judit Eszter Manyoky, who scored 16 points, while Rana Derin from the opposing team scored 15 points. However, she was unable to finish the game due to a shoulder injury.

Zoltan Boroš, the coach of the winning team, admits he was worried before the game.

“We were a bit afraid before the game because Turkey has a very good team, but in the end everything turned out well. The course of the game allowed me to give a chance to all the players and I am happy because it was a great game.

The success of her team made Julianna Karlocai, one of the best players at the meeting, very happy.

“The ball went quickly and accurately, there was some nice action and we deservedly won. We play together all year long, we have known each other for a long time and our biggest asset is our team play.”

Ozge Kavurmacioglu tried to explain why her team lost with such a large margin.

“We weren’t ready for this tournament, which is the reason for this defeat. We didn’t train for a while, we lost the freshness, and it was all visible during the game. Several of our players are injured, which is the result of our lack of preparation.”

Tomorrow, the Hungarian girls will welcome the girls from Bologna, while Bahçeşehir will play against Belgrade.
